Our Story

In 2024, an unexpected job loss became the turning point that changed everything. After years in retail leadership and operations, I faced a choice, find another role, or finally pursue what I’d always loved.

I chose passion.

Cooking has always been woven into our family’s story. Long before Jagota’s Spice Co. existed, our kitchen was where recipes, traditions and memories were passed down across generations. Returning to that space, I began experimenting with spice blends, refining family recipes, testing combinations and rediscovering the magic of authentic flavour.

As I explored the market, something became clear: the spice industry had changed very little. Products looked alike, lacked personality and rarely told the story behind the blend. I saw an opportunity to do something different.

Drawing on my background in business operations, retail strategy and customer experience, I set out to build more than a spice company, a premium food brand that honours tradition while embracing innovation. One with purpose, craft and a genuine story to tell.

That vision became Jagota’s Spice Co.

We are proudly 100% Kiwi-owned and operated, creating small-batch premium spice blends in New Zealand, with a vision to become one of the world’s most trusted premium food brands, sharing authentic flavours while creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow and pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

Because our purpose goes beyond the kitchen. That difficult period taught me how quickly life can change and how important it is to have the chance to rebuild. As we grow, we are committed to crafting exceptional products that bring people together while helping build stronger communities through opportunity, education and entrepreneurship.
